    Oh. My. God.
I just found this looking for queer web content, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
It was super good, but now I feel a connection because my ancestors were Taino…

It’s a REALLY GOOD webcomic. When do you update; is there a schedule? Is there a kickstarter or any way I could support this more???

Forgot to mention that I ravenously read this for the past hour+ instead of doing my homework… oops.

Oh gosh, I’m really glad you’re enjoying it and you can see yourself in my story! ^^ The first act is coming to a close soon, with 1 page posted every Saturday morning or occasionally Sunday.

As for ways to support my work, you can follow me on Twitter, I have a Patreon (you can get early updates for $1/mo!), and I have a Gumroad account with other pieces of my work you can buy, including the only piece of Broadside merch I have available currently, a gold foil print of Frei!

Oooh, ooh, could I ask what particular dance this scene is choreographed around? It’s just my wife and I might want to re-enact it sometime.

(I love this scene so much and I keep coming back to it – you convey the motion, the nervous intimacy of first dancing with someone you have complicated feelings for, the thud and clatter of feet and the rythm of the clapping so well!)

Oh gosh, it makes me so happy to hear that you keep coming back to this moment!! I worked really hard on researching and choreographing it!!

It’s a combination of colonial dances (with some Pride & Prejudice romanticism thrown in), videos of which are here. You can see the (intimate!) spinning move from the two-page spread in the second video! I was super inspired by the dance scene from P & P between Lizzy and Mr. Darcy, and hoped to convey some of that same atmosphere of falling for someone.

Oooh! Yeah I love Pride and Prejudice for dance scenes, though for me it was always the 1995 adaptation. The pattern of Jane Austen dance scenes always really stood out to me as an interesting way to write interactions between characters, the pattern of… speak and spin away and come back again, time after time over the course of the dance, is really something

And thank you especially for introducing me to that street dance! It’s wonderful, especially the ladies’ footwork
